A warrant was issued yesterday for a Toledo woman accused of hitting her son's girlfriend in the head and the palm of her hand with a cleaver, authorities said.

The warrant charges Mack F. McClendon, 44, of 2376 Victory Ave., with felonious assault in the attack on Nichelle Jacobs, 29, in her home in the 3300 block of Maplewood Avenue.

Ms. Jacobs was treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, authorities said. Ms. McClendon was staying with Ms. Jacobs and her boyfriend, and Ms. Jacobs was trying to get Ms. McClendon to move out.

Ms. McClendon let herself into the residence about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and the two women got into an argument about returning a house key, police said.

Ms. Jacobs punched Ms. McClendon in the stomach. Ms. McClendon pulled out the cleaver and hit Ms. Jacobs. Ms McClendon then fled, police said.
