Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about the slaying of a 76-year-old North Toledo woman who was attacked by an intruder inside her home and was found at the bottom of the basement stairs.

Betty Jagodzinski was found by two friends about 2 p.m. March 6 in her home at 332 Bronson Ave.

Her black purse and black wallet are missing, police said.

Mrs. Jagodzinski's friends spoke with her about 20 minutes before they found her to let her know they were coming to visit.

Mrs. Jagodzinski was taken to St. Mercy Medical Center, where she died about four hours after she was found.

She died of blunt head trauma, including bruises to her brain and skull fractures, the Lucas County coroner's office said.

In addition to Crime Stopper reward money, the city of Toledo is offering a $2,500 reward for information about the crime.

The Lagrange Village Council and Lagrange Development Corp. are offering an additional $500 reward.

The Lagrange Development Corp. also has set up a reward fund at the Fifth Third Bank branch at 3028 Lagrange St., and reward contributions may be placed in containers at Tom's Carry Out, 2861 Lagrange, and Busia's Narozny, 3227 Lagrange.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous.
