Pizza driver struck by men armed with baseball bat

A Bambino's Pizza driver was was hit several times with a baseball bat by two men who robbed him as he was making a delivery in the 2200 block of North Erie Street, authorities said.

John Czerniawski, 48, was listed in fair condition last night in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Mr. Czerniawski was making a delivery of pizza and pop about 9 p.m. Monday when he was hit from behind on his head. His two attackers demand money, police said.

When he said he didn't have any, the men hit him on the top of his head with the bat.

He put his arm up over his head to protect himself and he was hit again on the arm. The men grabbed the pizza and pop and fled, police said.
