Police yesterday arrested a man suspected of overpowering a woman in the parking lot of the Southwyck Shopping Center, 2040 South Reynolds Rd., during a robbery attempt Friday afternoon.

Glen P. Bonawitt, 28, of 2340 Robinwood Ave., was charged with aggravated robbery and petty theft.

He was taken into custody about 12:10 a.m. at 1022 Liberty St. in East Toledo, police said.

Mr. Bonawitt is suspected of forcing a 44-year-old Swanton woman into her car at 2:15 p.m. Friday in the mall parking lot, near Dillard's department store.

He ran away when she drew attention by blaring the vehicle's horn, police said.

The petty theft charge was filed in connection to a claim made by an inmate in a holding cell while Mr. Bonawitt was being booked.

The inmate claimed Mr. Bonawitt took $50 from him, Sgt. Tim Noble said.
