A 12-year-old North Toledo boy was arrested yesterday after he allegedly placed two 25-caliber handguns behind Leverette Junior High School and tried to sell them, police said.

The boy was arrested after the weapons were found at the school, 1111 East Manhattan Blvd., about 8:30 a.m. He was charged with two counts of delinquency in connection with illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or dangerous ordnance on school premises. He was being held in the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center pending a hearing in Juvenile Court.

The school's vice principal told a school resource officer that a student saw two guns behind the building. One witness said the boy pulled the triggers on the guns and said he would sell them to him for $40. Another witness said the boy told him that he had two guns for sale, according to a police report.

Police think the boy brought the guns to school yesterday. The boy denied the guns belonged to him. He did not take the guns into the school, police said.
