Two masked men, one carrying a pipe, robbed the Speedway gas station, 1525 West Alexis Rd., yesterday and assaulted a clerk before fleeing with an undetermined amount of money and cigarette cartons, police said.

The clerk, Nancy Odom, said the men came into the store about 2:05 a.m. and pushed her to the floor, where she hit her head, police said.

One of the men stood over her and threatened to kill her if she moved. The other man stood at the cash registers and demanded Ms. Odom tell him how to open them. He grabbed the cash, and his accomplice took the cigarettes.

Ms. Odom was treated at the scene by fire personnel, police said.

Another Speedway gas station, 1922 West Laskey Rd., was robbed by two men, one with a handgun, about 1:50 a.m. Monday. They asked for cigarettes and demanded that a clerk open the safe. They took money from the register, police said.
