Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about a driver who crashed a sports utility vehicle June 23 through a stage at Jackson and St. Clair streets that was set up for musical entertainment at the Taste of the Town.

Police saw the vehicle about 4:30 a.m. in the area of Jackson and Superior Street, which was closed for the event.

As officers drove toward the vehicle, it sped away and crashed. The collision upended sound equipment and scattered scaffolding onto the street.

The vehicle then turned north on Summit Street, according to authorities. Police have no description of the driver. Witnesses said the vehicle was maroon and resembled a 1980s model GMC Jimmy or Chevrolet Blazer. A headlight was found near the damage, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward.
