Central Toledo standoff ends with pair of arrests

10/10/2001

Two people were arrested yesterday after a more than four-hour standoff with police at a central Toledo duplex.

Marwan Lamb and Penee Graves, both 23 and both of 357 Melrose Ave., were being held last night in the Lucas County jail pending arraignments today in Toledo Municipal Court. Mr. Lamb was charged with obstructing official business and two unrelated warrants, while Ms. Graves was charged with obstructing justice.

About 1 a.m., directed patrol officers saw Mr. Lamb, who was known to have breaking and entering warrants, inside the duplex. He ran to the back of the residence, turned off the lights, and refused to answer the door.

A neighbor complained about 9:20 p.m. Monday that Mr. Lamb had threatened to shoot her, and police had been told that he had been seen earlier in the week with a handgun and that a pit bull, a woman, and children were inside the duplex. Negotiations failed, and about 5:40 a.m. officers forced their way into the building and made the arrests, police said.
