Two Springfield Township men were arraigned yesterday in Sylvania Municipal Court on charges of grand theft, breaking and entering, and vandalism for allegedly creating a diversion while three other people stole an automated teller machine from a convenience store last week, Sylvania police said.

Jose Vasquez, 34, of 161 East Heather Lane and Bradley E. Hunkapiller, 24, of 247 West Woodside Terrance were being held on bonds of $40,000 and $32,500, respectively.

Both men have unrelated charges pending in other cases. Mr. Vasquez was being held in the Lucas County jail; Mr. Hunkapiller was in the Sylvania jail.

The arraignments of the men bring to six the number of people arrested in the case.

Robert W. Lee, 24, of 21 East Woodside Terrace was arraigned earlier this week in the Sylvania court on grand theft, breaking and entering, and vandalism charges. He was released after posting bond.

On Dec. 5, some of the men are suspected of shooting into First Federal of Delta, 3234 Holland-Sylvania Rd., Sylvania Township, to send police there, while others shattered glass at Sylvan Pantry, Inc., 4900 McCord Rd., Sylvania. They hooked a log chain to an ATM and stole it, Sylvania police Detective Mike Yunker said.

Sylvania police have charged Dustin Funk, 22, of 1108 Monterey Ct.; Mark Reno, 25, of 201 Crosspath Rd., and Leo Madrigal, 23, of 7519 Dorr St. with breaking and entering, vandalism, and receiving stolen property in the ATM case. The men ditched the stolen truck they used and were arrested a few hours after the theft, police said.

The ATM was recovered. The police have not ruled out more arrests.
