A Toledo police records clerk accused of violating department and civilian policies after she was seen smoking marijuana with a former city police officer has been charged criminally with drug abuse.

Tiffany Sweet, 28, of Toledo, is scheduled to appear Feb. 25 in Toledo Municipal Court on the minor misdemeanor offense. A disciplinary hearing was held Thursday on the policy violations, which include subversive or prejudicial conduct, willful violation of laws, gross misconduct, and an infraction dealing with integrity.

The hearing officer will make a recommendation on any disciplinary action and forward it to Mayor Jack Ford for final approval. Megan Vahey, the mayor's spokesman, said yesterday that no comments will be made until the process is complete.

Ms. Sweet, who joined the department in 2001, was relieved of duty without pay Thursday, Capt. Mike Murphy said. On Jan 27, she was relieved of duty with pay.

Command officers with the department's special enforcement bureau saw Ms. Sweet and former officer Peggy Hymore smoking marijuana Jan. 26 in the parking lot of Gator's Bar at Ingomar Avenue and Spencer Street.

Ms. Sweet left Ms. Hymore's sports-utility vehicle before the officers approached. They charged Ms. Hymore, 41, of Oregon, and arrested a passenger, who had a small amount of suspected cocaine. Ms. Hymore resigned Jan. 27. She pleaded innocent to marijuana possession, a minor misdemeanor offense. A trial is set for Feb. 19.
