11 carryouts cited in July 4 liquor sweep

Eleven carryouts were cited during a recent undercover sweep in which Toledo police checked whether such businesses were selling alcohol to minors.

Police made 34 attempts to buy alcohol through two volunteers, ages 18 and 19. The teens entered the businesses between 4 p.m. and midnight July 4 and tried to buy alcohol.

At least four of the carryouts have been cited during previous sweeps. Police have targeted carryouts and bars during past sweeps.

Businesses that were cited during the recent sweep are:

w Marathon gas station, 1719 Lagrange.

w Pete's Market, 3449 Stickney Ave.

w Beer Dock, 902 North Huron St.

w Howard's, 2933 Monroe St.

w JB Food Mart, 1802 Bancroft St.

w Mayfair Super Market, 5129 Bennett Rd.

w Alexis Shell Hymiler, 429 East Alexis Rd.

w Speedway SuperAmerica, 1525 West Alexis.

w Airport Stop, Inc., 3326 Airport Hwy.

w Stop By Carryout, 2350 Airport Hwy.
