Firefighters battled a blaze that caused about $10,000 in damage to a vacant building in the 2400 block of Lexington Avenue.

Battalion Chief Tony Gregory said firefighters arrived at the blaze at 3:12 p.m. yesterday and found an old cement-block building burning from the rear.

Chief Gregory said it took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.

The fire has been ruled suspicious.

Three cars were in the building along with equipment used to work on the vehicles.
