Man receives 18-year term for bank heists

7/17/2003

A former Bellevue, Ohio, man has been ordered to spend the next 18 years in prison in connection with three bank robberies, two of which occurred in northwest Ohio.

Judge James Carr recently sentenced Timothy Tuttamore, 26, after Tuttamore pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court, Toledo to three counts of armed bank robbery. The judge also ordered Tuttamore to pay nearly $30,000 in restitution to two of the banks, one in Old Fort, Ohio and the other in Wellington, Ohio.

Tuttamore must spend an additional five years of supervised release once he is out of prison.

On April 12, 2002, Tuttamore was tackled by a sales manager from a Findlay radio station after Tuttamore fled the First National Bank carrying a pillowcase stuffed with cash. Officers said the station employee sat on Tuttamore until police arrived. He was later charged with the other bank robberies.
