Oregon teacher still jailed in stolen-property case

7/25/2003

An Oregon teacher remained in the Wood County jail yesterday after asking for a continuance for her preliminary hearing in Perrysburg Municipal Court.

But prosecutors told Municipal Court Judge S. Dwight Osterud that Sarah Switzer, 30, likely will be indicted by a Wood County grand jury with two other people next month.

Ms. Switzer, Christopher Lapoint, 35, of Whitehouse, and Angela Hadrian, 37, of Holland, Mich., were arrested July 15 outside the Holiday Inn French Quarter. Stolen items were found in their truck.

Ms. Switzer, a language teacher at Fassett and Eisenhower middle schools, was charged with forgery, drug abuse, possession of criminal tools, and two counts of receiving stolen property. Her bail was set at $15,000.

Mr. Lapoint faces drug charges and is in jail in lieu of a $14,000 bond. Ms. Hadrian, who was charged with receiving stolen property, was released after posting $3,500 bail.
