A northwest Toledo restaurant that opened July 1 sustained about $250,000 damage during a fire late Sunday.

The blaze at Star Diner, 3067 West Alexis Rd., began in the dining area and was reported about 11:20 p.m., Toledo fire Investigator Denis Bembenek said yesterday. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious.

The eatery was closed when the fire occurred. Joseph Skaff of Sylvania Township owns the diner. Joseph Brothers Co. owns the building.
