A Toledo man accused of shooting at two men, wounding one, in East Toledo on July 27 was arrested Wednesday.
John A. Perez, 23, whose last-known address was 922 Elm St., is charged with two counts of felonious assault. He was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $128,500 bond on those and 23 other charges. He was arraigned yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court.
He is accused of shooting Anthony Contreras in the right leg and firing at a vehicle driven by Dustin Evans.
Police saw him getting into a vehicle near Oak and Fassett streets about 10 p.m. Wednesday. When he saw police, he jumped from the vehicle at Fassett and Clark Street and was caught after a brief foot chase.
The vehicle he was driving was stolen and had a stolen license plate on it. Police found four rifles, several hundred rounds of ammunition, and a bulletproof vest in the trunk.
