WAUSEON — The Fulton County Sheriff's Office is investigating two reports of counterfeit cashier checks that were used to buy motor vehicles fraudulently.

Sheriff Darrell Merillat said that his office is looking for two people who used a counterfeit check to purchase a motorcycle on July 12 and an automobile on Tuesday. The checks were both drawn on the Republic Bank of Chicago.

The sheriff asked that anyone contact his office who might have had contact with the counterfeiters, who stated they were from Chicago, or who is offered a check from the Republic Bank for payment.
