Man held in death of his girlfriend

An East Toledo man charged in the slaying of his girlfriend was being held in the Lucas County Jail last night after his arraignment in Oregon Municipal Court yesterday.

Joseph A. Amador, 20, of 269 Steel St., was being held in lieu of $250,000 bond set by Judge Donald Petroff. Mr. Amador is charged with aggravated murder in the death of Christina Deal, 18, of Oregon, whom he'd been dating.

Her body was found Sunday in a vacant industrial park by an Oregon police officer. An autopsy showed she suffered two slash wounds on her neck.

Police said they wanted to speak to Mr. Amador because he was the last person to see Ms. Deal. While he was being questioned, he gave police information that put him at the scene, investigators said.

Detective Sgt. Paul Magdich said police searched Mr. Amador's home and “located some items we feel link him to the offense.” He declined to identify the items.
