BRYAN — Two Michigan men were ordered yesterday to stay in jail in lieu of $10,000 bonds each on charges of trafficking in marijuana on the Ohio Turnpike in Williams County.

Matthew Curtis, 27, of Sterling Heights, and David Brannack, 25, of Shelby Township, were arrested Monday after Ohio Highway Patrol troopers stopped a car driven by Mr. Curtis because of a violation for following too closely. Each was charged with trafficking in marijuana, a third-degree felony.

A probable-cause search revealed 40 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle, state troopers said. The drugs had an estimated street value of about $90,8000.

The men appeared in Bryan Municipal Court, where an Oct. 31 preliminary hearing was scheduled. As of late yesterday afternoon, neither suspect had posted bond. They were being held at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
