Archbold: Sauder Village experiences crime

11/13/2003

Sauder Village was a victim this fall of its first break-in in the historical village's 28-year history.

Two muzzle loaders made by the Sauder Village gunsmith as historical reproductions were taken from the log trading post in the Natives and Newcomers exhibit the evening of Oct. 19, according to the Fulton County Crime Stopper Program. One was a 69-caliber, smooth bore musket valued at $2,700. The other was a 62-caliber musket valued at $3,500. “To use them would really require a knowledge of flintlocks,” village spokesman Kim Krieger said.

The Crime Stopper program offers up to $1,000 for tips on this crime or any other felony and will take anonymous calls at 1-800-255-1122.
