Police nab suspects in robberies
11/13/2003Toledo police arrested a third robbery suspect in two days, but detectives believe the thug responsible for a string of robberies in North Toledo and Point Place is still on the loose.
The latest capture occurred about 5 a.m. yesterday after the robbery of the Sunoco convenience store at 305 Clayton St., at the foot of the Anthony Wayne Bridge.
A man walked into the store armed with a knife and took two drawers from the cash register.
Police found the drawers nearby, unopened, shortly after the robbery and arrested a man they said was hiding behind a Dumpster.
Daniel Augustyniak, 27, of 1104 Nevada St. remained in the Lucas County Jail last night charged with aggravated robbery.
Police arrested Patrick Mitchell, 27, of 406 Prescott St. and Kenneth Bostic, Jr., 35, of 1362 Fitchland Ave. Tuesday after robberies. Both men were arraigned yesterday in Toledo Municipal Court.
Mr. Bostic was charged with five robberies, including one Tuesday at the Strater Cleaners, 3550 Executive Pkwy. Bond was set at $50,000 for each robbery.
Mr. Mitchell was charged with two robberies and bond was set at $50,000 each. He is a suspect in the robberies Tuesday at the Subway restaurant and Painters Supply & Equipment Co. in the 4000 block of Monroe Street.
Authorities are still looking for a man they call the Point Place robber, who they believe walked away with $270 during a holdup at the Burger King at 1110 West Alexis Rd. about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect walked into the eatery holding a handgun and demanded money. He fled south across West Alexis.
