Felony charge dropped against ‘missing' driver

BOWLING GREEN — A fourth-degree felony charge filed against a Toledo woman who left the scene of an accident was dismissed yesterday in Bowling Green Municipal Court.

Angela Glambin, 18, had faced a charge of inducing panic after Wood County sheriff's deputies were called to the Portage River on Nov. 22 and found her heavily damaged car — without a driver — overturned in the water. The discovery set off an extensive search because authorities feared she was still in the river.

City Prosecutor Matt Reger said he expected Miss Glambin to enter pleas at a later date to lesser charges of reckless operation and leaving the scene of an accident. He said authorities are tallying the cost of the search operation, which will be assessed to Ms. Glambin as restitution.

Ms. Glambin told investigators at the time that she had swerved off the road to avoid an animal. She was helped out of the car by passing motorists, and they took her home.
