Lenawee County inmates to pay $12 booking fee

1/3/2004

ADRIAN — Prisoners being booked at the Lenawee County jail will be assessed a $12 booking fee to help offset the costs of training the corrections officers who guard them.

Lenawee County Sheriff Larry Richardson said the fee is in response to a new state law that requires training and certification of corrections officers working in county jails.

According to the new law, known as Public Act 121, those counties that offer training accepted by the newly developed Sheriff's Coordinating and Training Council can keep $10 and send the rest to the state.
