Chaplain helps nab bank robbery suspect

3/3/2004

Divine intervention interrupted Michael P. Miller's plans to spend the money that police say he got yesterday when robbing an East Toledo bank.

The 50-year-old East Toledoan was arrested and charged with the holdup shortly after Toledo police Chaplain Larry Vriezelaar saw him flee the area of the bank, police said.

Mr. Miller, of 440 Raymer Blvd., was charged with one count of robbery. He was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment today in Toledo Municipal Court.

A man walked into the Charter One Bank branch, 602 Main St., about 1:20 p.m. yesterday and demanded $500. Mr. Vriezelaar saw him flee and directed officers to 1200 Starr Ave., where Mr. Miller was arrested, police said.
