A couple accused of embezzling more than $30,000 from the Maumee Little League have been indicted by a Lucas County grand jury on theft charges

Catherine and Mark Eppard, of 1740 Cass Rd., were indicted yesterday by the grand jury. Mrs. Eppard, 37, was indicted on three counts of grand theft. Mr. Eppard, 37, was indicted on one count of theft.

Police said Mrs. Eppard, a former league treasurer, wrote checks from a league account for $11,320 to herself and wrote checks worth $6,830 to her husband while he was president of the all-volunteer organization.

She allegedly kept $5,000 raised from the sale of T-shirts at a tournament and failed to deposit about $7,900 in registration fees for a tournament into a league account.
