JONESVILLE, Mich. - Michigan State police have identified the body of a man found last week in Scipio Township as James Bach, formerly of Hillsdale.

Mr. Bach's decomposed remains were discovered on Wednesday by field workers escaping rain in a van parked in a barn in Scipio Township, about four miles north of Jonesville, said Sgt. C.J. Gochanour. She said the body may have been there as long as a year and that an autopsy revealed Mr. Bach died of natural causes.

Mr. Bach, listed as a vagrant with no known relatives, was born April 26, 1942 and last seen alive in February, 2003. He completed a 10-year prison sentence for assault and theft in 2001, Sergeant Gochanour said.
