Warrant issued for dad in assault of toddler son

A Toledo man with a prior domestic violence conviction has been charged with punching his 16-month-old son in the face during an argument with the child's mother, police said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Greg J. Davis, 19, of 210 Wasaon St., charging him with felony domestic violence.

The child's 17-year-old mother said she was arguing with Mr. Davis when she went into another room at the Wasaon address. The child was standing beside Mr. Davis, who was on the couch, when his father struck him, police said.

Police Sgt. Greg Smith said Mr. Davis was angry and threw his arms out, hitting the child. Mr. Davis told the mother he didn't mean to hit his son and fled, police said. Police arrested the child's mother on unrelated warrants and took her to the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center. The child was in the care of his grandmother.
