Variety of jewelry taken during Jareds burglary

Numerous items, including watches, rings, and pearls, were taken yesterday when burglars broke into Jareds Gallery of Jewelry in West Toledo.

Police reports didn't indicate an estimated loss, but said it appeared to be substantial.

Officers responding to an alarm at the store, 5025 Monroe St., about 4 a.m. found the front-door glass broken. Inside, several display cases were damaged by an ax, police said.

The burglars fled into the parking lot, dropping rings in the lot and a lot across the street, police said.
