Residents seek probe into release of cats

5/17/2004

The Toledo Area Humane Society will be asked to investigate possible charges of animal cruelty after several East Toledo residents complained that dozens of domestic cats had been released yesterday from cages at 426 Parker Ave., police said.

Patti Rood told police a neighbor without her permission let her cats out of cages kept in a garage at 426 Parker about 11 a.m. yesterday.

When officers asked Ms. Rood whether she had a city permit to operate a business at the residence, she replied that she did not need one, according to a police report.
