Man arraigned in teen's '95 slaying

A Toledo man who confessed to killing his 15-year-old girlfriend nearly nine years ago was arraigned yesterday, the same day police found a weapon they believe was used in the slaying.

Christopher Feemster, 28, of 1711 Nevada Ave., who was charged with murder, was ordered held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond during his arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court. He is accused of shooting Tiffany Hamilton, formerly of 1257 Avondale Ave.

Feemster is on suicide and aggressive behavior watches and is being housed separately from other inmates. Judge Gene Zmuda referred him for evaluation to make sure he understood arraignment proceedings.

Feemster admitted killing Miss Hamilton, whose decomposed body was found September, 1995, nearly a month after her family reported the Libbey High School student missing. She died from a gunshot wound to her head.

Cold-case investigators questioned Feemster on Tuesday about the teenager's disappearance and murder. He has been in jail since Sunday, when he was arrested for a robbery Friday at Wally's Carry Out in East Toledo.

Authorities said he admitted shooting Miss Hamilton after a disagreement about a relationship problem. Court records indicate he admitted he was angry at her because he suspected her of having sex with another person.

In addition to confessing, Feemster led investigators to the Vance Street crime scene and told them how the slaying occurred, police said. The weapon was found nearby.
