Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about the murder Monday of a West Toledo man outside Jackman Elementary School.

Randall Johnson, 47, of Oldham Drive, was walking his dogs in the parking lot of the school, 2010 Northover Rd., about 3:45 a.m. when he was shot twice in the chest, police said.

One of the dogs was shot in the mouth, and one of the dogs may have bitten one of two suspects police believe were involved in the crime.

The wounded dog ran to its nearby home, leaving a trail of blood. A Washington Local schools building engineer who was opening Jackman Elementary about 5:15 a.m. found Mr. Johnson's body and notified authorities.

City officials have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
