Jury indicts man in death of mother

7/8/2004

A South Toledo man accused of killing his mother and leaving her body in the trunk of her car was indicted yesterday by the Lucas County grand jury for murder.

Timothy Dominiak, 44, of 1295 Wildwood Rd. was being held in the Lucas County jail.

A spokesman for the county court administrator said the case has not been assigned to a judge. Once that occurs, Mr. Dominiak will be arraigned.

The body of Virginia Dominiak, 69, was found in her auto at 1295 Wildwood on June 27. Mr. Dominiak was living in her home at the time.

A coroner's report said Mrs. Dominiak had been dead for at least 12 hours, and died of strangulation and suffocation.

Mr. Dominiak was at the home most of the day with his girlfriend before Mrs. Dominiak's husband, Norbert Janowiecki, showed up asking about his wife's whereabouts. Police said Mr. Dominiak left shortly before Mr. Janowiecki discovered Mrs. Dominiak's body.

Washtenaw County authorities in Michigan arrested Mr. Dominiak the next day at a rest stop near Ann Arbor.
