Man hurt trying to foil home invasion

A Sylvania Township man was treated at a local hospital after he was hurt on Thursday night during a home invasion at his residence shortly after the two suspects approached a nearby residence, police officers said.

The men entered the front door of 2235 St. Charles Rd. about 11:40 p.m. and made contact with an occupant, Lindsey Taylor, asking her, "Where's Sara?"

When she told them no one lived there by that name, the men became agitated.

She became concerned about her safety, so she grabbed the phone and headed for the bathroom, police said.

A relative, Richard Taylor, entered the room and became involved in a fight with one of the men.

The other man followed Ms. Taylor to the bathroom and tried to grab the phone.

She kicked him and another relative, Bonnie Taylor, entered and blocked the man.

Mr. Taylor continued fighting with the other suspect and was knocked to the floor, hitting his head.

Both suspects then fled out the front door, possibly heading south, after taking Mr. Taylor's wallet from his back pocket, police said.

No vehicle was seen, but a loud muffler was heard in the area.

A loud car was heard in a nearby driveway in the 6500 block of Bancroft Street after a similar incident involving the men about 15 minutes earlier.

There they approached a resident and, when confronted, asked for Sara Tilla.

They then left the residence, police said.

The suspects were described as white.

One was in his 30s, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, skinny, with blond hair.

He was wearing a white tank top and cut-off blue-jean shorts.

The other is in his 20s, 5 feet, 2 inches tall, skinny with black hair, black beard, and a mustache.

He was wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue pants.
