North Toledo bank is targeted again

7/23/2004

A Charter One Bank branch in North Toledo continues to be a popular target for robbers.

Authorities yesterday were seeking a man who passed a note to a teller at the branch, 3520 Lagrange St., at 3:40 p.m. which said he had a pistol and demanded money.

The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, the FBI said.

It was at least the 14th robbery at the branch since 1997. The bank is close to an I-75 interchange, and its location may be the reason it is robbed so often, James C. DeLong, Jr., head of the Toledo FBI office, said.
