Ottawa County grand jury charges pair

PORT CLINTON - A Fostoria man has been indicted on five felony counts related to the sexual and physical assault of a woman at an Ottawa County campground this month.

The Ottawa County grand jury this week indicted Michael J. Ferguson, 32, on charges of rape, abduction, felonious assault, domestic violence, and aggravated menacing. Authorities said Mr. Ferguson was arrested July 3 after an incident at the Portage Cove campground in Bay Township in which he allegedly broke the arm of a 28-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her.

The grand jury also indicted Jena Howey, 18, of Oak Harbor on a felony charge of aggravated vehicular assault and misdemeanor counts of underage consumption, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited concentration of alcohol. The Ohio Highway Patrol, said Ms. Howey caused a June 20 car crash that injured her passenger, Ashley Franklin, 16, of Toledo.

She is to make an initial appearance Aug. 12 in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court.
