That's why it's so difficult for the West Toledo resident to grasp why his 26-year-old daughter was stabbed in the chest and killed. Her body was found Saturday in her home.

"My daughter didn't deserve to die, for her life to be taken like that," he said yesterday, when Ms. Key would have turned 27. "Cori didn't have any enemies in the world."

Police detectives are investigating Ms. Key's death as a homicide. No one has been arrested and no warrants have been issued. Investigators have interviewed people who would have had contact with her before she died, Lt. William Moton said.

Mr. Key said police have a suspect in the case.

"I just want the person brought to justice. I really think they're going to find out who did this cruel thing to my daughter. We're going to be able to get some closure," he said.

Mr. Key found his daughter's body in the tub in a second-floor bathroom of her home, 1142 Oakwood Ave. She had been due to leave Saturday for a trip to

Canada with friends.

When Ms. Key didn't call, her friends called her father and asked if he'd heard from her. He hadn't and went to her home.

"The screen door was locked. She did not answer the door or phone," Mr. Key said.

Once inside, he went through the house and found his daughter's body in the bathroom.

Ms. Key leaves behind sons ages 2 and 8.

She had just earned her licensed practical nurse degree and was going to school to become a registered nurse, her father said. He said she had worked at Flower Hospital since graduating from Owens Community College last year.

Friends of Ms. Key, a 1995 Central Catholic High School graduate, said prayers in front of her home yesterday evening.

"This is something that's real tragic," Mr. Key said. "It's like a nightmare."
