Maumee man hurt by hit and run

A Maumee man was hurt seriously Thursday when his bicycle was struck at Michigan Avenue and Parkway Drive North by a motorcycle that fled, Mamuee police said.

Walter McNeely, 66, was waiting to cross Michigan about 6:35 p.m. when the motorcycle, northbound on Michigan at a high speed and passing vehicles on the left, struck Mr. McNeely and his bicycle.

Mr. McNeely initially was treated at Medical College of Ohio Hospitals and then flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he was in serious condition last night.

The motorcyclist was described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old, with a thin to medium build and blond hair. The motorcycle was a blue, white, and black 2001 Yamaha model YZF R6 Champions Limited Edition.
