FREMONT - Bond was set at $26,250 yesterday for a Fremont man accused of intentionally ramming another vehicle in a city parking lot.

Shawn Brown, 34, appeared in Fremont Municipal Court on charges of felonious assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence.

Brothers Alejandro and Octavio Vasquez of Fremont told police a van nearly drove their car off East State Street about 3 p.m. Sunday, and the driver then motioned for them to pull over.

When they pulled over, the man jumped out of the van, ran up to them, and began punching them, the brothers said. He then drove off in the van but turned around a short time later, pulled into a parking lot, and rammed into the Vasquez vehicle head-on, police said.

Mr. Brown pleaded guilty to the driving under the influence and drug paraphernalia charges. He is to be sentenced on those counts during a preliminary hearing Aug. 18 on the felonious assault charge.
