An East Toledo man was arraigned yesterday after police reported finding nearly $90,000 worth of marijuana and five marijuana plants during a search of his house Sunday night.

Mario Jaso, 41, of 136 Carbon St., was charged with four drug offenses: trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond and unrelated warrants.

Police searched his house about 11 p.m. Sunday and found 56 pounds of marijuana valued at $89,600 and five marijuana plants worth about $8,000, they reported. They also seized a shotgun and $311. The investigation has been ongoing for several months. Two adults and three children were home at the time of the search, police said.

Jaso served nearly four years in a state prison from 1992 to 1996 on a drug-trafficking conviction from Wood County.

In the mid-1980s, he served state time on a sexual battery conviction from Lucas County, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
