Marijuana plants seized in Lucas County

8/12/2004

Authorities seized 47 marijuana plants during the last two days at two locations in western Lucas County.

Twenty-five nearly mature plants about 5 feet tall were confiscated at a residence on Kilburn Road in Richfield Township after authorities acted on a tip they received yesterday, county sheriff's Detective Rob Sarahman said. He said the case remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made.

On Tuesday, authorities found 22 small plants in a cornfield near Jeffers Road in Providence Township during a marijuana eradication effort using aerial reconnaissance, the detective said.

He said the plants at maturity are estimated about $1,000 each. No arrests were made during Tuesday's effort, which also entailed a search in Jerusalem Township. No plants were seized in the eastern part of the county, the detective said.
