5 youths face charges of breaking into cars

LAMBERTVILLE Five Lambertville youths are facing delinquency charges for allegedly breaking into at least seven automobiles near their homes over the last several weeks, Monroe County sheriff s detectives said.

The youths, two girls and three boys between the ages of 12 and 15, allegedly broke into the vehicles for something to do, Detective Heath Velliquette said. They were arrested after detectives received a tip regarding the crimes.

Among the items taken from cars in the Waterford, Thunderbird Trail, and Chapel Creek subdivisions were a laptop computer, stereo equipment, compact discs, cigarettes, and sunglasses, almost all of which were recovered and returned to their rightful owners, Detective Velliquette said.

The five youths were charged in Monroe County Probate Court with delinquency charges in connection with receiving and concealing stolen property and larceny from a vehicle, detectives said.
