FOSTORIA Two people were injured in a fire Sunday that heavily damaged a house on East Fremont Street, according to the city fire department.

Capt. Jim Walters said crews were called to the residence at 319 East Fremont at 9:11 a.m. and found flames in the kitchen. The blaze, which investigators have ruled accidental, was caused by food left cooking unattended, Captain Walters said. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The home, owned by HJC Leasing, was occupied by Janet Caskey, Debra Ridenhour, and Herman Clouse, Captain Walters said. One of the occupants suffered burns on both arms and was treated in Fostoria Community Hospital, and another occupant suffered a foot burn and refused treatment, he said. The captain declined to identify which of the two residents were hurt.
