MONROE - Authorities cited 65 motorists for seat belt violations on Monday, the first day of its Labor Day week seat-belt enforcement campaign.

Members of the sheriff's department, city police force, and local state police post participated in the effort along North and South Monroe Street.

One driver was stopped a second time within minutes of a first stop, during which he told officers he didn't believe in wearing seat belts, authorities said.
