Man charged with child enticement

A Toledo man was arrested yesterday after police said he tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his sport utility vehicle near East Toledo Junior High School.

Wenseslado Trevino II, 24, of 1339 Oak St. was being held last night in the Lucas County jail. He was charged with child enticement and is to be arraigned Monday in Toledo Municipal Court. Police said he drove his vehicle near Seaman Street and Dearborn Avenue about 7:45 a.m. and asked a student if he could drive her to school.

Eventually, the man drove away. The girl told a school official, who alerted police. An officer tried to stop a vehicle matching the description a short time later, but it sped away. Using its license plate number, officers identified Mr. Trevino as a suspect.

Another incident occurred earlier in the week in Perrysburg, but authorities do not believe the two are related. About 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man drove by a 9-year-old girl walking on Coe Court, held some money out the driver's side of his car, and asked her if she wanted the cash. The man drove away in a car described as a dark blue, four-door sedan.

Perrysburg police said they have no leads, but the suspect's description doesn't match the description of the man who tried to lure the child in Toledo. The Perrysburg suspect was white, in his early 20s, with light brown hair worn in braids.
