Toledo man is indicted in '93 slaying

A Toledo man was indicted yesterday by a Lucas County grand jury in connection with the shooting death 11 years ago of a central-city woman who was the mother of seven children.

Terrence Glover, 29, of 2546 Fulton St. was indicted on one count of murder. The charge includes a specification that a gun was used in the crime.

Mr. Glover, who has not been arrested, is accused of shooting Tamara Williams, 32, at Delaware and Lawrence avenues, just a few houses away from her mother's home, on Sept. 21, 1993.

Police allege he shot her as she leaned into his car.

Detective Tim Campbell said Ms. Williams was walking on Delaware about 5:50 a.m. when a man from inside a parked car called her over to his vehicle.

Ms. Williams, who was on her way to pick up her children at her mother's house on Lawrence, went to the car and was shot in the head, chest, and right leg with a small-caliber gun. She was found by her brother and sister and was dead when police arrived.

At the time, police believed there were two men and a woman in the car, and that Ms. Williams knew her assailants.

The victim's brother and sister saw her get in a car at the same intersection about 30 to 45 minutes before they found her body.

However, Detective Campbell said yesterday the victim did not know the gunman.

The case was reopened after detectives received information from a concerned witness within the last two months, Sgt. Steve Forrester said.

He said the information led investigators to other witnesses, who helped in the case.

Police are looking for Mr. Glover, whom they believe is still in Toledo.

Crime Stopper reward money is available for information leading to his arrest, the sergeant said.
