Man accused of knocking police officer from bike

A man who knocked a Toledo police officer off his bicycle yesterday was arrested for felonious assault, police said.

Officer William Shaner, a member of the department s bike patrol unit, was riding in the 3100 block of Cherry Street about 1:30 a.m. when James Scott, who was standing in the street, stuck out his arm, knocking the officer to the ground, police said. Officer Shaner had minor injuries.

Mr. Scott was being held in the Lucas County jail pending arraignment in Toledo Municipal Court.
