A Toledo man and woman were arrested early yesterday after they allegedly broke into an East Toledo home, and tied and beat a blind man before taking items from his apartment home.

Nicholas Azzarelli, 26, of 712 Howland Ave., and Melissa Cox, 22, of 712 Howland, remained in the Lucas County jail late yesterday after police arrested them at another East Toledo residence.

Josh Burton, 23, said he was at his home, 327 Earlwood Ave., sleeping after midnight when the suspects came into the house, bound him with duct tape, beat him, and took his television, VCR, DVDs, and CDs.

Booking information stated that Mr. Azzarelli and Ms. Cox were arrested at 706 Howland at 3:15 a.m. Mr. Burton said his things were returned to him after the arrest.

Mr. Burton said Mr. Azzarelli and Ms. Cox used to live with him and his wife at the apartment but they had moved out earlier. Police continued their investigation in the incident yesterday.
