Hillsdale County reduces charges in fatal crash

10/29/2004

HILLSDALE - Hillsdale County authorities have dropped negligent vehicular homicide charges against an Osseo, Mich., man in the traffic death of a Pittsford youth.

William Guy, 55, was fined $240 yesterday for careless driving by county District Judge Donald Sanderson after Prosecutor Neal Brady said the medication Mr. Guy took for his diabetes may have played a role in the incident, eliminating the more serious charge.

On Jan. 2, the pickup Mr. Guy was driving crossed the center line on M-99 near Oak Haven, Mich., and struck a car driven by Valerie Leech, 46, of Pittsford. Jeremy Albright, 16, a Pittsford High student and passenger in the Leech vehicle, was killed.
