Children likely started Sandusky house fire

SANDUSKY - A house fire Thursday likely was started by children playing with matches, Sandusky police said.

Three seriously injured children were rescued by Sandusky firefighters after flames engulfed the home at 517 Meigs St. Two 3 year olds and a 4-year-old were taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Fire and police officials would not release the names of the children because they are minors.

Detective Helen Prosowski said the younger children were left home with an 11-year-old, who was treated at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. Police are continuing to investigate.
