An off-duty Toledo police officer yesterday caught a man police said fired several shots at another man he found with his girlfriend.

Kamell Triplett, 19, of 227 Knower St. was in the Lucas County jail on charges of felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon pending arraignment today in Toledo Municipal Court.

Shawn Booth, 34, was visiting Mr. Triplett's girlfriend about 3 a.m. at a house on Colburn Street. Mr. Triplett went to the home after a fight earlier in the day and found Mr. Booth visiting the woman.

Mr. Triplett allegedly pulled a revolver from his coat pocket, pointed it at Mr. Booth, and threatened him. Mr. Booth jumped out a window, cutting his shoulder, and fled. Mr. Triplett allegedly fired three shots at Mr. Booth as he fled and sought help at a nearby home, police said.

Off-duty Officer Shawn Parra responded, drew his weapon, ordered Mr. Triplett to put down the gun and to get on the ground, and held him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Mr. Booth was treated at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for injuries to his shoulder and knee, police said.
